Privacy policy

This policy describes how babay.ch processes personal data under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).
1. Controller
The controller is the operator named in the imprint. Please send data protection requests to the email address given there.
2. Data we process
Account data (email address; with Google sign-in also name and profile picture), listings (texts, photos, price, postcode and the derived locality), messages between users, and technical data required for operation and security.
When photos are uploaded we remove embedded metadata such as GPS coordinates.
3. Purposes
We process data to run the platform, publish and check listings, prevent abuse and fraud, and communicate with you.
4. Automated review of listings
Before publication, the content of a listing (title, description, category, price, postcode and canton, structured details and, where applicable, photos) is sent to an AI service provider that assesses compliance with our rules.
Name, email address and phone number are not sent. Phone numbers and email addresses in the text are removed before transmission.
The provider may be located outside Switzerland. In that case we ensure adequate data protection, for example through standard contractual clauses.
If the result is unclear, a person reviews the listing. If your listing is rejected automatically, you can ask for the decision to be reviewed by a person.
5. Recipients
We use service providers for hosting, data storage, email delivery and the automated review. If you sign in with Google, Google provides us with the details needed for signing in.
Published listings are publicly visible; we only show the approximate location (locality and canton).
6. Retention
We keep account data until you delete your account. Logs of the listing review are kept for up to two years for traceability.
8. Your rights
You can request access to your data, have it corrected or deleted, and request a copy. You can also lodge a complaint with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
9. Changes
We may amend this policy. The version published on babay.ch applies.
